I first got to meet Wyatt a few months ago when he was 3 months old, and I was excited to see how much he had grown in 3 short months! My milestone sessions are such a great way to document baby’s first year! It’s always such a treat for me to get to watch these precious babies grow. Wyatt was so smiley until he got worn out from all the hard work of being so photogenic. He let me know he was done with the camera in his face, haha! His session was packed with great portraits.
6 month development
What’s so special about 6 month milestones? So many things! I loved studying child development in college. According to WhatToExpect.Com, “at this age, babies typically sleep about 11 hours at night (many straight through) and take around two daily naps that add up to three to four hours.” This is also the time many babies start solids.
The best part about 6 month milestones is that this is usually when babies start to sit up unsupported, which allows for a variety of fun photos! “Babies typically sit unsupported somewhere around the age of 6 to 6½ months old. But there’s a wide range of normal when it comes to when babies master the skill.” These extra special milestone sessions are called a “sitter session”. Sitter sessions usually take place around age 6 months, but sometimes up to 9 months old. Even if they need a little support, the cutest shots can happen!
The smiles, the (sometimes) wobbly seated shots, the sweet grabs for their feet, the chubby cheeks and chunky little hands and feet, and the little teeth poking through — it’s all so sweet to capture!
