When should I book?
For a newborn session, contact me any time after your 1st trimester. If your baby has already arrived, contact me anyway! I’m always happy to fit clients in if my schedule allows. For all other sessions, please contact me any time — the sooner the better.
When is the best age for newborn photos?
5-10 days old is ideal, or under 2 weeks is the best rule of thumb to capture those extra sleepy brand-new-baby photos! However, newborn sessions can be done up to 6 weeks old or so depending on the baby (especially preemies).
What is the difference between a full/regular Newborn Session vs a Mini Newborn Session?
My full/regular newborn sessions are unlimited time (usually takes 2-3 hours). They can include family, parent, and/or sibling shots if you would like. I can usually capture more of a variety with outfits, props, or whatever you choose for your session. A Mini Newborn session has a time limit of one hour and is for baby only, with more simple shots and setups.
Can we have family, parent, or sibling photos taken with the baby?
In full/regular newborn sessions — absolutely! Family and sibling shots tend to take more time, especially if toddlers are involved, so I always start with those shots at the beginning of the session. Each newborn session includes a questionnaire to fill out, where you can indicate if you’d like to add family, parent, and/or sibling shots. (Please note: Mini Newborn sessions are for baby only, so if you would like family/sibling shots, make sure to book my full/regular Newborn session)
What should we wear for family shots?
When you book a newborn session, I’ll send you my Newborn Information Guide to help you prepare for your session. This includes tips on what to wear. I always recommend a NEUTRAL palette of colors. Neutral is timeless and photographs beautifully. All-white is especially gorgeous and classic in baby photos. Muted earth tones, muted pastels, and grays are always lovely too. If you have any questions about outfits, please ask!
Do you have props and wraps, etc?
Oh yes! I have A LOT of stuff to choose from. If there is anything in particular you’re thinking about, please ask and I can tell you if I have it.
Can I bring my own items to use in photos?
It’s completely optional, but I’m always happy to incorporate personal items.
What precautions do you take to make sure my baby is safe?
Your baby’s health and safety is my utmost priority. My studio is closed off to the rest of my home and thoroughly cleaned after each session, including washing all items used. I stay up to date on flu shots and immunizations and will reschedule sessions if I become ill. I also ask clients to reschedule if anyone is sick.
Will my session include digital images and a print release?
The session fee covers reserving your spot on my calendar, all session preparation and clean-up, and session time. It does not include images. Digital files (and optional print products) are purchased separately after your gallery is complete. This means you get to choose the images you love, and how much you’d like to spend (a minimum digital purchase of $200 is required in addition to the session fee). Once digital images are purchased, you’ll receive a Receipt with Print Release to print your selections wherever you’d like. However, I STRONGLY recommend ordering prints and printed products directly through your gallery to ensure quality results.
How long have you been working with babies?
Besides raising my own three kids 🙂 I’ve been photographing newborns, babies, and children since 2008. I love how adorably genuine and candid little ones are!
After my session, when can I expect to receive my photos?
Within a week after your session, you’ll receive an email with a semi-edited watermarked gallery from which you’ll select your favorite images (10 for $200, 20 for $350, or 30+/all for $500). You’ll receive an invoice for your selections and once payment is received, your images will be hand edited to give them some pop and polish, and will be ready to download within about a week.
What is your style with baby posing?
My style is more baby-led posing, meaning I have a more natural approach to newborn photos and try not to overly pose them. Every newborn photographer is different, so please take a look around at my galleries or ask me about anything specific to make sure my style is the right fit for what you’re hoping for your baby’s photos.
Does your studio have a restroom?
Yes, my studio has it’s own private restroom for clients to use.
Do you offer Cake Smash sessions?
Yes! I love doing cake smash photos and they can be included in any one year session. I have a lot of decor for cake smash sessions, and you’re always welcome to bring your own decor. You will need to provide the cake. I can provide a list of tips and possible places to get one if you need. I also have a couple of baby tubs that we can use for cute tub shots after the cake smash if you’d like. Babies love it!
Do you offer maternity sessions?
I do offer maternity sessions (in-studio only) on a limited basis. Please contact me for details.
Do you offer in-home sessions?
I prefer to use studio lighting for consistent, crisp lighting, so I typically only offer sessions in my home studio. This also allows clients full access to all of my props, wraps, baby headbands and hats/bonnets, etc. However, if you would like an in-home lifestyle session, please contact me to discuss details. Travel fees may apply.
Do you offer Fresh 48 sessions?
I do offer “Fresh 48” sessions (photos in the hospital or at your home, within 48 hours or so after your baby’s birth). Please contact me to discuss details and availability.
Do you offer outdoor sessions?
I used to offer outdoor sessions, but I’m exclusively in-studio now.
What if I don’t want my photos posted online?
After every session, I have parents fill out my Client Permission form to indicate whether they are ok with having photos from their session posted online. I always respect client’s wishes!
Is tax included?
Yes! Tax is already included in all listed costs.
