Sharing this session is long overdue, but I couldn’t miss it because it was so special—a newborn photoshoot for their sweet baby boy combined with his big sister’s 5th birthday portraits. I was extra excited for this session after meeting their beautiful family last year for big sister’s 4th birthday photos!

Celebrating Two Milestones in One Session

When families welcome a new baby, it’s also a big moment for siblings. This proud big sister was turning five, and it was the perfect opportunity to celebrate her milestone alongside her baby brother’s first portraits. I loved that their brother in the middle was so extra sweet with his baby brother. It was so precious to see the new bond between them.

Combining sessions is a wonderful way to capture both occasions in one sitting, creating a gallery full of meaningful images you’ll treasure for years to come. For big sister’s 5th birthday photos, we made sure she had her own time in the spotlight. Five is such a fun age!

I just about fell over when I saw this little beauty’s gorgeous red hair—truly a showstopper from the very first moment! She was a dream to photograph and absolutely beautiful. It’s sessions like hers that remind me why I love capturing newborn photos so much—each little one is completely unique!

The first few weeks with a new baby go by in a blur—and it’s such a special moment in time to capture before it slips away.

The best time to book your newborn session is before your baby arrives—ideally during your early third trimester. This ensures you have a spot on my calendar, usually within the first 5-14 days after birth, when babies are sleepiest and most easily posed, making it easier to capture those peaceful, curled-up portraits everyone loves.

Welcome to the world, baby girl! She’s already a couple months old as I’m finally getting around to highlighting her session, but here we go! This sweet little girl’s newborn photoshoot was nothing short of dreamy. She gave me such a good mix of sleepy shots, awake portraits, and sweet little smiles. Newborn sessions are some of my favorites! It’s always such an honor to help families preserve these first fleeting days, when everything is brand new. I had a blast meeting this cute family and their two little girls. I have no doubt they’ll be besties for life!

This little one pulled off every setup and was extra pretty in purple! She had major FOMO and fought sleep so hard, but that just allowed for lots of eye contact and some extra sweet newborn portraits.

There’s something so special about meeting families who have just welcomed a new little one. This post is long overdue, but worth the wait. This little guy’s dad is a firefighter, so I got to incorporate his gear into the session. To add icing on the cake, I also got to capture the sweetest sibling photos. If big sister looks familiar, it’s because I got to capture her 1st birthday photos a couple years ago. She was so cooperative which isn’t usually the case with toddlers! To further the deja vu, I’ve also been so lucky to photograph his cousins’ newborn photos (their daddy is also a firefighter).

If this tiny newborn on her daddy’s firefighter jacket looks familiar, it’s because I got to capture the same shot at her big sister’s newborn photoshoot just under 2 years ago. Getting to watch my little newborn clients grow and welcome a new sibling is one of my absolute favorite things about what I do! These beautiful sisters were both total dreams for their sweet photoshoot.

Incorporating personal touches into sessions makes them so much more meaningful, and it was an added privilege to honor a firefighter especially after the terrible fires California has experienced this year.

After previously photographing this wonderful family for their second daughter’s newborn session and then her 1st birthday photoshoot, I was thrilled to document the newest addition to their family – an adorable baby boy who arrived just before Christmas. It’s always so fun to see a family’s dynamic grow and change after welcoming a new little one. They were obviously so excited to have a baby boy after their two adorable girls, and dad brought some special props for his son. This little guy is as cute as can be and so loved!

I first met this cute family a couple years ago for their first son’s newborn photoshoot. I was so happy to see them again after they welcomed a second baby boy to their family, and it was so fun to see how alike big brother and his newborn brother look!

Newborn photos are such a special way to document life’s most precious chapters – watching families grow as they welcome a new little family member. Witnessing and capturing these moments is truly a privilege. This sweet boy was born before Thanksgiving and I’m finally getting caught up on posting all the sessions I did around the holidays — I’m sure he has grown so much already!
