Menifee Newborn Photographer – Love those baby cheeks!

This little cutie came in for a Simply Swaddled Newborn session. This session is short and sweet, keeping the baby swaddled for a quick 30 minute photoshoot. It’s great if you just want a few simple shots of your new baby! She was 3 weeks old when her momma brought her in, which is just slightly past the typical newborn pictures window. Combine that with a shorter session, and I wasn’t sure how many images I’d be able to capture…but she rocked it!! She had the MOST adorable cheeks and creamy newborn skin, and she slept like a dream.

Hi there! Although I’m new to Menifee, I’m definitely NOT new to newborn or baby photography! I’ve photographed hundreds of sweet babies over the past decade. It’s crazy to think how grown so many of those little ones are now (definitely not so little any more!).

I grew up mostly in Northern Utah near Salt Lake City, but I lived in Southern Utah in a beautiful town called St George for the last 12 years with my hubby and 3 kids. Moving has been a big adjustment, but I’m so excited to be here and can’t wait to meet new clients here in Southern California. I lived in California a long time ago when I was little, but my husband was born in Calabasas and grew up in SoCal. An opportunity opened up for us to move here, and we decided to take the leap. It felt like forever waiting for our new house to be built, and now that my studio is up and running all I want to do is fill it with new clients! I got to photograph big sis as a teeny newborn (she was only around 4 pounds back then!), and seeing her become a big sister was so sweet! When they reached for each other’s hand, I melted. I loved working with this family again!

Best time for newborn photos {Beautiful Ava}

When is the best time for newborn photos? I’ve found that 5-10 days old is ideal, but if you’ve missed this window, contact me anyway! Babies under 2 weeks old tend to be more sleepy for photos, and their skin tends to be a little more calm. After birth, baby’s skin tends to break out, peel, or become red or jaundiced…but that’s ok! Experienced newborn photographers can work their editing magic to make your perfect baby’s skin look smoothe and perfect (unless you’d like to request having your baby’s skin left as is, of course).

Preemies often need a little more time before coming in for photos too. I’ve photographed newborns up to 8 weeks old, and although newborn photos under 2 weeks is recommended, it’s definitely not a deal-breaker.

Now on to showing off little Ava…what a beautiful baby! Her momma came with lots of fun ideas in mind for her newborn photos, and it was such a blast to get to capture them for her. And what a beautiful momma she is too! It’s always tough to come up with adequate words when the photos do a much better job to speak for themselves…
