Meeting Josie and her parents was such a treat! I had recently bought some butterfly decor for my studio, so I was excited when her momma requested a butterfly theme! This little brown-eyed beauty is so photogenic, and she made creating some beautiful photos for her first birthday a dream.
Dayven’s Lion Wild One Cake Smash was a hit! Cutie Dayven, his parents and big brother drove to my home studio in Menifee from the Anaheim area for his first birthday cake smash photoshoot. Because he’s a Leo, he had a Wild One lion theme for his session. He was a bit scared of my studio light, and wanted to snuggle his momma a bit, but it all worked out in the end. Enjoy some highlights from this adorable 1st birthday photoshoot!
Oh, Brielle. Isn’t she the cutest?! What an absolutely beautiful baby. I had so much fun with her cake smash photoshoot! She is so adorable and expressive. The funny faces she kept pulling were hilarious and I have way too many favorites from her gallery.

I had so much fun with Miles’ 1st Birthday Cake Smash! I first met Miles’ family a few years ago when I got to photograph his big sister for HER 1st birthday cake smash. It was so fun to see his momma and big sisters again. Miles is as cute as can be with his blond curls and stunning blue eyes!
Enzo celebrated his first birthday in style with a race car cake smash photoshoot! Enzo’s momma owns a party decor business, and she always brings such fun and creative elements. We started the session focusing on just baby, and ended with some tub shots to wash off all that frosting! 😉 Happy 1st birthday, Enzo!

I was so excited to see cutie Graham and his family again after getting to photograph Graham as a newborn last year. I loved that his momma specifically requested black and white portraits. Black and white portraits have a timeless quality, and, as the great Canadian photographer Ted Grant said, “When you photograph people in black and white, you photograph their souls.” 1
Graham has the most stunning eyes and the cutest cheeks! I loved capturing his expressions and photographing his cake smash experience.

Whether it’s a newborn’s first photoshoot or a child’s first birthday, I strive to create beautiful and timeless portraits that will be treasured for years to come.

Here are some tips to help you prepare for your baby’s cake smash photoshoot:
Choose a theme: You can choose a theme that reflects your baby’s personality or interests. Some popular themes include floral, rustic, and Wild One (Where the Wild Things Are).
Pick a cake: The cake is the centerpiece of the photoshoot, so choose a cake that looks beautiful and tastes delicious. You can either make the cake yourself or order one from a bakery.
Dress up your baby: Dress your baby in a cute outfit that matches the theme of the photoshoot. You can also add some accessories like a hat or a bowtie. I’ve got tons of crowns, headbands, and outfits for baby girls too.
Be prepared for a mess: Cake smash photoshoots can get messy, but I’ll take care of the mess! You’ll only need to clean up your baby, and your baby will have the option to end the session in my little baby tub to wash off the frosting and play.

I had the opportunity to capture Harper just a day before she turned one! 1 year cake smash photos are always a blast. She seemed to love her cake smash, and her cute smiles shone through and made for some adorable shots.
A year ago, I had the pleasure of meeting little beauty Lennon for her newborn photoshoot. Fast forward to last month, and I was thrilled to see her again for her first birthday cake smash photos. Time flies! Lennon has SO much personality and I loved watching her explore my studio, playing with the lights and balloons to her heart’s content. We ended the session with the cake smash and some cute baby tub shots.

I normally only do in-studio or indoor sessions, but my niece nannies for this family in Oceanside so I made a special exception. 😉 This park was gorgeous and I need to go back to explore soon! Kinsley was an absolute doll and she was a big fan of her cake frosting. Cake smash photos are always such a blast!
