I loved this beautiful baby girl’s 1st birthday photoshoot! She is as happy as she is gorgeous, and her sweet personality shined from the moment the session started. Although this was a short and sweet mini session, she filled every minute with bright smiles and expressive little moments that made her gallery so special.

Mini sessions are perfect for capturing updated milestone portraits while keeping things simple and stress-free. Even in a shorter session, I can capture a variety of sweet photos full of personality.

Getting to capture this absolutely beautiful baby girl’s photos from newborn to 1st birthday has been such a treat. She was such a gorgeous newborn with a full head of the most amazing red hair, and although that deep rich color gradually “washed out”, her hair is still as beautiful as ever and she is SO adorable! Check out her 6 month photos too — what a cutie.

I also love her mama’s style as she chose white and neutral palettes to ensure the focus stayed exactly where it should—on the cute baby! This creates a bright, classic and timeless aesthetic with a cohesive first-year gallery that flows beautifully from newborn to one year old.

One of the greatest compliments as a photographer is when families return again and again. I had the privilege of photographing both of these adorable girls as newborns and again for their first birthday photos. Baby T’s mama was worried she wouldn’t cooperate, but she proved us wrong and packed SO much personality into her 1st birthday cake smash!

Mom warned me that she might be shy for photos, but she ended up completely shining in her spotlight— smiling and smashing her cake like a pro. For this session, I styled everything around a purple palette. Balloons, cake decorations, and the gorgeous little dress her parents brought her in all tied together beautifully (I offer a variety of baby girl 1st birthday outfits in my studio too!). A baby’s first birthday is such a fun celebration for the whole family! For this session, Mom requested recreating big brother’s cake smash photos—and I was thrilled when she showed me the inspiration, since my go-to backdrop is nearly identical. Meeting their beautiful family was a blast, and little brother celebrating his first birthday couldn’t have been cuter. We had to postpone the original session due to a a fall that resulted in stitches, but once he healed, I was so glad we could capture these memories.

What’s soft, sweet, and full of squishy fun? A Squishmallows cake smash for a very special 1st birthday photoshoot!

We started with some family shots and classic first birthday baby portraits. Her momma requested soft pastels to match the whimsical Squishmallow vibe. When the cake came out, baby girl dug in and absolutely loved gobbling up her strawberry cake (can’t say I blame her — it looked delicious).

First birthdays only happen once, and capturing all that magic is something I absolutely love to do. If your little one has a favorite character or theme — let’s make it part of the celebration. Celebrating One: A Sweet Cake Smash for Baby Boy

Celebrating One! This handsome baby boy had his first birthday a couple months ago, and I’m finally getting around to posting his session. I also got to capture some sweet family photos to document his extra special milestone, and what a beautiful family they are! In a Deluxe Baby Session such as this, I usually start off with family photos, and mix in baby & parent shots, photos with siblings etc. Then I capture a variety of photos of the baby (the star of the show!), and end the session with a special cake smash. I also have a little baby tub that babies LOVE, and it’s always a fun way to end a cake smash photoshoot when parents request it.

Vintage 1st Birthday

I’m finally getting a chance to highlight this sweet boy’s first birthday photoshoot! His momma brought some vintage 1st birthday outfits and we started off with some family photos and wrapped up the session with a cake smash. I loved that he kept throwing hands up like he was cheering for himself—he clearly knew we were celebrating him!
