I’m often asked when is the best time for newborn photos, and honestly it depends! Generally, between 5-10 days old is ideal, but every baby is so different. Babies under 2 weeks old tend to be extra sleepy and their skin is still pretty clear (not flaky or breaking out, as sometimes happens with new babies–especially around 2 weeks old). Preemies are often the exception to the rule, as they tend to stay sleepy until around the time they would have been full term so preemie newborn photos work well beyond the two week recommendation.

Cutie little Finn was born a month early, and his session ended up being right around the time he was due. We were originally scheduled a week prior, but unfortunately I became ill and had to reschedule his session. He had become more alert by the time of his photos, but I found he loved being on his tummy and that helped to get some sweet shots of him! He is so adorable and I loved meeting him and his parents.
